Dental implants are one of the most popular options for people who lose teeth or need a replacement for all their natural teeth. One fact that not many people know is that there are more than 40 different kinds of implants on the market today. Most of these fit into two specific categories or types. Here are some things you should know about those two types and when they are right for you.
This type of implant is among the most commonly used variety. People who have excellent bone density are the prime candidates for this solution. Depending on the specific approach, it may be necessary to schedule a series of appointments to complete the installation.
The basic process involves the insertion of the implant into the jawbone. After the installation is complete, the patient is fitted with a temporary cap that looks somewhat like the finished tooth. While the tissue heals, the team at the dental clinic arranges for a permanent cap to be prepared. That cap will cover the portion of the implant that protrudes above the gum line and look exactly like a real tooth. Once the healing is complete, the dental team removes the temporary cap and attached the permanent one.

Individual implants can be used to replace some or all of your natural teeth. There is another option that also fits into the category of endosteal implants that is worth considering. This is known as all on four implants.
In this scenario, four implants are inserted into the jawbone at carefully selected points. A denture or plate is prepared that looks like a full set of upper or lower teeth. The plate is attached to the four implants once the gum tissue has healed. An all on four solution requires less healing and can be completed faster than having a series of individual implants put in place over a period of several weeks or months.
If your jawbone is not in the best of conditions, the dentist in Markham will want to talk about this type of implant solution. The process calls for inserting a metal framework just beneath the gum tissue. The implants or posts are connected to the framework and protrude from the gums, just as any implants would do.

During the healing process, the framework adheres to the bone. The result is a sturdy surface that is ideal for adding the caps made to cover the tops of the implants. When those are in place, you have what appears to be a full set of healthy teeth.
Which is Best?
The condition of your gums and jawbone determine which type of implants is right for you. After the dentist conducts a thorough examination that includes inspecting the bone and asking questions about your general health, the professional will go over the merits of each approach that would be viable. Together, the two of you can settle on the option that will serve you well in the years to come.
Are you missing teeth or believe that the time has come to replace teeth that are worn and causing some pain? Contact a dental professional today and arrange an examination. Ask about implant options and which ones the dentist recommends. In less time than you expected, you could have a brand new set of beautiful teeth.

It's been a while since I've been to a dentist but I'm trying to get back on track with health in general. Overall it was great going to Markham Smile Centre! The receptionist (I believe she was Kim) was friendly. The hygienist, Ying, was attentive and gentle during the cleaning; x-ray tech (forgot her name, sorry!) was great too. Dr. Sara Riad explained things with good detail. Looking forward to going back!
I was someone who was nervous and anxious about visiting the dentist, but the team at Markham Smile Centre has made me feel SO comfortable. Kim is so patient and helpful and Dr. Hwang and Rory are both so professional and wonderful. They thoroughly explain the procedure to make you comfortable beforehand and are very gentle. The clinic was clean and the staff was very polite. I particularly liked the fact that everything was explained to me before going in for the procedure so I knew what to expect at each step. The dental hygienist who did the cleaning for me was also very gentle and took my concerns into consideration. I will definitely recommend them.
Upon arriving to the Markham Smile Centre, my son and I were greeted with a warm welcome by the receptionists. The hygienists and Dentist were very gentle and transparent with what they were doing. The hygienist that worked on my 9 year old son was patient and very friendly with him, which helped ease his nerves. Our overall experience was A+.
Since I was little, I have always hated going to the dentist... Its always uncomfortable and unpleasant. These days, visiting the dentist isn’t so bad! Dr Jason, Rory, and the lovely staff at reception make the experience 100x better. I have had absolutely no issues with the gum graft and cleanings that I’ve gotten done here. Everyone is incredibly friendly and helpful, even when I’m calling in or emailing a hundred questions :). I would highly recommend Markham Smile Centre.
